Tour of the Imperial Furniture Collection
The museum consists of the depository on Mariahilfer Strasse and the Biedermeier house on Andreasgasse. These two buildings are connected via a central ticket office/vestibule.
Please select a room you want to experience:
2nd floor
The second floor showcases "Imperial Interiors", evoking the world of gracious imperial living with original pieces of Habsburg furniture.
The second floor of the Biedermeier house on Andreasgasse contains examples of 19th century furniture.
3rd floor
On the third floor of the Depository the emphasis is on the Biedermeier era. Fifteen alcoves fitted out with loving attention to detail illustrate the Biedermeier era up to 1848. You can also take a look at the old storerooms of the Imperial Furniture Depository.
The third floor of the Biedermeier house focuses on Viennese Modernism with selected examples by Loos, Hoffmann and Wagner. Here you will also find the apartment of ceramics artist Lucie Rie, designed by the architect Ernst A. Plischke in 1928. The tour concludes with a growing collection of contemporary furniture.
The Imperial Furniture Collection can also be visited without a guided tour during opening hours. Individual exhibits are provided with explanatory descriptions.
Wheelchair access to the museum is via the entrance at Andreasgasse 7.
