Today Danish design is widely regarded as epitomizing a timeless yet modern lifestyle. From 25 September 2019 to 12 January 2020 the exhibition „Made in Denmark. Danish design since 1900“ in cooperation with the GRASSI Museum of Applied Arts in Leipzig is showing the multi-faceted development of Danish design from the turn of the twentieth century to the present day. The focus of the exhibition lies in the designs from the 1950s and 1960s, when Danish design made its international breakthrough and the name ‘Danish Modern’ became a synonym for high-quality innovative design. The show comprises around 220 exhibits, including around 65 pieces of furniture together with a selection of ceramics, porcelain, silver, jewellery and toys.

The Hofmobiliendepot ∙ Imperial Furniture Collection as a unique furniture museum shows domestic culture as it has developed for more than five centuries. The display ranges over furniture used by the imperial dynasty alongside a diversity of furnishing styles including Biedermeier, Historicism, Viennese Modernism and also contemporary furniture design. Changing temporary exhibitions place a special focus on the achievements of twentieth-century architecture, design and furniture, also on famous Habsburg personalities.

(SKB) administers Schönbrunn Palace, the Hofmobiliendepot ∙ Imperial Furniture Collection, the Imperial Apartments in the Vienna Hofburg, including the Sisi Museum and the Silver Collection and Schloss Hof Estate and Schloss Niederweiden in the Marchfeld (Lower Austria), in other words, the greatest attractions of Austria’s imperial heritage.
